National Workaholic Day - July 5th

This 5th of June is National Workaholics Day. Having a workaholic parent my entire life has made me compartmentalise between healthy workaholism and an unhealthy one. Let's get real here for a moment, being committed to our work is one fine quality but if that's going to make you miss on equally important events in your personal life very often that's when it gets unhealthy.
Here are a few ideas I've curated based on my observations to be a healthy workaholic.

  • Be punctual, so that you can avoid overtime to cover up.
  • Pre-plan your extra work time, so that your personal events dont collide.
  • Spend some quality time with your loved ones and get to know what's happening currently in their lives, so they dont feel left out.
  • Stay away from your phones, laptops, and any sort of work-related notification on your day off's, because you deserve a complete break as well. And an over-tired brain is of no use.

We do need money, working all the time and leaving behind your physical and mental health will cost a fortune. So let's not take it that far, and make sure to be a healthy workaholic.
This National Workaholic day is in place to remind us to have a balanced work and personal life.
