India's first ski athelete to bring home a medal, is looking for support.

Indian skier, Aanchal Thakur secured a bronze medal at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Skiing Competition held in Montenegro, where she finished 3rd by clocking 1:54:30.

This news hit the headlines and the nation felt proud of this young girl who became the first Indian Ski athlete for having won two medals at the international podium, the first one being the bronze medal in the 2018 FIS Alpine 3200 Cup held in Turkey. Anchal, who has taken part in four World Championships so far, also scripted history as the first Indian to win a medal in the winter sports competition. This international achiever entered the world championships in the year 2013, when she was just 16 years old.

When she hoisted the victory Flag at the Alpine Skiing Competition this year, it is worth applauding considering the minimum or least participation of India in the winter sports. Her victory has not only made the Indian sports enthusiasts proud and happy, it also paved way for India, to encourage and invest more on the winter sports in the coming years.

Anchal, who needs training to qualify for the upcoming Winter Olympics to be held in February 2022, has started a crowdfunding campaign to fund her preparation in Europe. India's athletes and players need extensive support and encouragement to head forward. When they receive what they rightfully deserve, all they do is not for themselves, but for the nation's glory.
